Thousands are baptised in Beijing, while in Zhejiang two priests are imprisoned

Asia News Bernardo Cervellera April 10, 2007

The wave of new conversions makes it difficult to find sufficient godparents. In the interim of the Pope’s long awaited letter to China’s Catholics, the Patriotic Association’s iron fist is felt, particularly in Hebei and Zhejiang.

Beijing (AsiaNews) – Thousands of people were baptised into the faith in Catholic churches across China on Easter night. Yet in some areas the underground Church is still subjected to persecution and imprisonment.

Forecaster Blasts Gore on Global Warming

My Way News CAIN BURDEAU April 7, 2007

NEW ORLEANS (AP) – A top hurricane forecaster called Al Gore “a gross alarmist” Friday for making an Oscar-winning documentary about global warming.

“He’s one of these guys that preaches the end of the world type of things. I think he’s doing a great disservice and he doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” Dr. William Gray said in an interview with The Associated Press at the National Hurricane Conference in New Orleans, where he delivered the closing speech.

Business of Global Warming Feels a Lot Like Inquisition

Real Clear Politics William F. Buckley April 3, 2007

The heavy condemnatory breathing on the subject of global warming outdoes anything since high moments of the Inquisition. A respectable columnist (Thomas Friedman of The New York Times) opened his essay last week by writing, “Sometimes you read something about this administration that’s just so shameful it takes your breath away.”

Two must reads this Paschal (Easter) season

First of all, why “Paschal”? The word comes from Pascha which means Passover and is the proper term for the resurrection of Christ. Christ is the “Paschal Lamb” (Passover Lamb). Think of John the Baptist’s words when he first laid eyes on Christ: “Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world.” To a first century Jew, the term “Lamb of God” would powerfully recall Exodus, when the angel of death passed over the homes of the Children of Abraham and the Egyptians during the final plague and killed all the first born sons of the families who did not place the blood of the unblemished lamb on their door posts. “Easter” is a later import and is not a historically proper term.

In any case, read these two articles about Pascha in Dachau:

10 Questions For Al Gore And The Global Warming Crowd

Townhall.com John Hawkins March 30, 2007

I’ll be the first to admit that like most conservatives, I’m deeply skeptical of the idea that mankind is causing global warming. Is that because I take payoffs from the energy industry, don’t like Al Gore, don’t like science, or any of the other silly excuses global warming alarmists come up with to explain why people don’t buy their theory?

No.

Global Warming Heresy

Townhall.com Walter E. Williams March 28, 2007

Most climatologists agree that the earth’s temperature has increased about a degree over the last century. The debate is how much of it is due to mankind’s activity. Britain’s Channel 4 television has just produced “The Great Global Warming Swindle,” a documentary that devastates most of the claims made by the environmentalist movement. The scientists interviewed include top climatologists from MIT and other prestigious universities around the world. The documentary hasn’t aired in the U.S., but it’s available on the Internet.
