{"id":9071,"date":"2013-11-05T05:33:53","date_gmt":"2013-11-05T13:33:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.orthodoxytoday.org\/blog\/?p=9071"},"modified":"2013-11-05T08:55:27","modified_gmt":"2013-11-05T16:55:27","slug":"obamacare-obama-lied-our-health-coverage-died","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.orthodoxytoday.org\/blog\/2013\/11\/obamacare-obama-lied-our-health-coverage-died\/","title":{"rendered":"ObamaCare: Obama Lied, Our Health Coverage Died"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-9072\" alt=\"ObamaCare: Obama Lied, Our Health Coverage Died\" src=\"https:\/\/www.orthodoxytoday.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Obama_Lied_Health_Coverage_Died_01_330px.jpg\" width=\"330\" height=\"231\" hspace=\"5\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.orthodoxytoday.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Obama_Lied_Health_Coverage_Died_01_330px.jpg 330w, https:\/\/www.orthodoxytoday.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Obama_Lied_Health_Coverage_Died_01_330px-300x210.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 330px) 100vw, 330px\" \/>by Neil Munro &#8211;<br \/>\nPresident Barack Obama told his enthusiastic supporters Monday night that he never promised what video recordings show him promising at least 29 times.<\/p>\n<p>The videos show Obama promising 300 million Americans that \u201cif you like your health-care plan, you will be able to keep your health-care plan, period.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But that\u2019s not what he really said, Obama announced Monday in a speech to about 200 Organizing for Action supporters, gathered at the St. Regis hotel in D.C. \u201cWhat we said was you could keep it if it hasn\u2019t changed since the law was passed,\u201d he told Obamacare\u2019s political beneficiaries and contractors.<\/p>\n<p>That claim is not supported by his videotaped statements, which don\u2019t include any mention of his new \u201cif it hasn\u2019t changed\u201d exception. <!--more--><br \/>\n&#8230;<\/p>\n<div class=\"simplePullQuote right\"><p>&#8220;if you like your health-care plan, you will be able to keep your health-care plan, period&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Despite Obama\u2019s new claims to his supporters, his \u201cif it hasn\u2019t changed\u201d exception is not recorded in even one of his many videotaped \u201cyou can keep it\u201d promises to Americans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will keep this promise to the American people\u2026 if you like your health-care plan, you will be able to keep your health-care plan, period,\u201d Obama said June 23, 2009.<\/p>\n<div class=\"simplePullQuote right\"><p>&#8220;If you like your insurance plan, you will keep it&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cIf you like your insurance plan, you will keep it. No one will be able to take that away from you.  It hasn\u2019t happened yet.  It won\u2019t happen in the future,\u201d Obama told voters on April Fool\u2019s Day, 2010, after the law was signed.<\/p>\n<div class=\"simplePullQuote right\"><p>&#8220;you keep your own insurance, you keep your own doctor&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>He repeated the unqualified promise in the run-up to the 2012 election. \u201cIf you\u2019ve got health insurance\u2026. you keep your own insurance, you keep your own doctor,\u201d he declared in one of the three presidential debates.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"350\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dPLrlFL67lo\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<p>However, Obama didn\u2019t spend all of his Nov. 4 speech denying the videotapes.<\/p>\n<p>He did confess that he and his aides may have made some mistakes, such as failing to manage the development of the Obamacare website.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>But the newly-revealed exception is justified by a higher-priority promise in Obamacare, Obama declared. \u201cIf we had allowed these old plans [to continue]\u2026 then we would have broken an even more important promise \u2014 making sure that Americans gain access to health care that doesn\u2019t leave them one illness away from financial ruin,\u201d he announced.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo the bottom line is, is that we are making the insurance market better for everybody,\u201d he declared, prompting loud applause by supporters eager to ignore his three years of fraudulent statements.<\/p>\n<p>Obama\u2019s higher promise is now causing the cancellation of insurance policies chosen by at least 3.5 million Americans.<\/p>\n<p>The cancellations are spreading from the individual market to the small-group market. For example, Kentucky\u2019s Department of Insurance has reported that 150,000 people in small-group plans \u2014 typically created for employees of small companies \u2014 are losing their insurance.<\/p>\n<div class=\"simplePullQuote right\"><p>ObamaCare is now causing the cancellation of insurance policies chosen by at least 3.5 million Americans.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Obama urged his supporters to counter the political effect of the many cancellations by highlighting good-news stories, and by reassuring people who have lost their insurance that they can buy new Obamacare-compliant policies. \u201cI realize that can be scary for people if they just get some [cancellation] notice like that\u2026 we\u2019ve got to make sure that we\u2019re getting them the right information,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>But he also tried to downplay the Obamacare-caused cancellations, which are creating a wave of bad publicity that is hammering his poll ratings and his political clout. \u201cPeople are acting like this is some new phenomenon\u2026 every year there was churn in this individual market\u201d before the law was passed, he complained.<\/p>\n<div class=\"simplePullQuote right\"><p>&#8220;some people\u2019s health-care costs are going to jump, but it will be good for them&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>But Americans\u2019 complaints are subordinate to his political goals, he suggested. \u201cWe decided we need to build something better, no matter how hard it is,\u201d he declared.
