{"id":2953,"date":"2008-08-28T07:59:49","date_gmt":"2008-08-28T11:59:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.orthodoxytoday.org\/blog\/?p=2953"},"modified":"2008-08-28T13:01:40","modified_gmt":"2008-08-28T17:01:40","slug":"are-liberals-just-giving-lip-service-to-the-least-of-these","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.orthodoxytoday.org\/blog\/2008\/08\/are-liberals-just-giving-lip-service-to-the-least-of-these\/","title":{"rendered":"Are Liberals Just Giving Lip Service to &#8220;the Least of These&#8221;?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/townhall.com\/Columnists\/WillHall\/2008\/08\/28\/are_liberals_just_giving_lip_service_to_the_least_of_these\">Townhall.com<\/a> | Will Hall | Aug. 28, 2008<\/p>\n<p>I have held my tongue for some time while folks like Jim Wallis (Sojourners), Mara Vanderslice (Matthew 25 Network) and Brian McLaren (emerging church movement) -\u2013 all religious and political liberals &#8212; have manipulated a compliant secular media and some of the religious press to shill talking points for them. <\/p>\n<p>The message varies in slight ways from story to story but basically asserts \u201cthe left\u201d cares more for the poor than does \u201cthe right.\u201d A companion assertion stated as fact is that evangelicals are \u201cfractured\u201d and that there is an emerging progressive group of evangelicals \u201cdiscovering\u201d there are other issues \u201cjust as important\u201d as protecting the unborn and defending the biblical definition of marriage.
