The Left’s Use and Abuse of Children

Gender Spectrum Destroying Children Souls7/7/2010 – Robin of Berkeley –

I’m not easily shocked. I’ve been a therapist for a couple of decades not just anywhere, but in the leftest place around. But still, when I received a flyer in the mail last week, it absolutely stunned me.

The flyer announced a conference for children and teens, age 13 to 18, by a group called Gender Spectrum. The advertisement reads as follows:

Come join other transgender, gender bending, gender nonconforming teens, children and families for three days of celebrating individuality, making new friends, and having fun. Meet other trans and gender nonconforming teens and adults, hang out, and explore different topics on gender: school, making friends, dating.

Peter Singer: ‘Why Not Sterilize the Human Race into Extinction?’

Peter Singer
Peter Singer

6/8/2010 – Peter J. Smith –
Princeton philosopher Peter Singer one of the world’s foremost contemporary utilitarian philosophers infamous for his advocacy of infanticide, would like individuals to consider this question: would sterilizing the human race to spare future generations the pain of existence be a good idea?

In a blog post for the New York Times entitled “Should this be the last generation?” Singer discusses in glowing terms the thought of South African philosopher David Benatar. Singer calls Benator the “author of a fine book with an arresting title: Better Never to Have Been: The Harm of Coming into Existence.”

“To bring into existence someone who will suffer is, Benatar argues, to harm that person, but to bring into existence someone who will have a good life is not to benefit him or her,” explains Singer.[Read more…]

PBS: More Christian Terrorists Than Muslim Terrorists

6/1/2010 – Robert Spencer –
PBS’s Tavis Smiley recently claimed that “every single day in this country” Christians commit terrorist acts. Interviewing the heroic ex-Muslim freedom fighter Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Smiley repeated common leftist dogmas about how Christian terrorists are more numerous and violent than Muslim terrorists, and have committed more terrorist acts inside the U.S. than Muslims have. Smiley’s views are silly, but they’re also ultimately misleading and dangerous, as they divert attention from the genuine threat from Islamic jihadists and, by sapping our civilizational self-confidence, weaken our ability and will to resist those jihadists.[Read more…]

Shouldn’t We be Nice to Puppies?

Orthodoxy Today | by Wesley J. Smith | 4/9/2010

What is the proper Christian view toward “animal rights?” That depends on how one defines the term. Christians—like all people—certainly have the duty to treat animals humanely and with proper standards of care. But that is properly called animal welfare, not animal rights.

So what’s the difference between animal welfare and animal rights? Animal welfare acknowledges that humans have unique dignity and value. In direct contrast, animal rights denigrates human exceptionalism as “speciesist,” that is, discrimination against animals. [Read more…]

The Green Death, The Silent Spring Legacy

DocZero.org | Feb. 18, 2010

Who is the worst killer in the long, ugly history of war and extermination? Hitler? Stalin? Pol Pot? Not even close. A single book called Silent Spring killed far more people than all those fiends put together.

Published in 1962, Silent Spring used manipulated data and wildly exaggerated claims (sound familiar?) to push for a worldwide ban on the pesticide known as DDT – which is, to this day, the most effective weapon against malarial mosquitoes. The Environmental Protection Agency held extensive hearings after the uproar produced by this book… and these hearings concluded that DDT should not be banned.

A few months after the hearings ended, EPA administrator William Ruckleshaus over-ruled his own agency and banned DDT anyway, in what he later admitted was a “political” decision. [Read more…]

Obama Criticizes Himself, Warns on High Deficits

As if things could not possibly get more weird and delusional, President Obama now criticizes the very high government deficits he himself supported, promoted, and helped create. I don’t think the word “pathological” is sufficient to describe this man. We need to invent a new term.

Reuters | Nov. 18, 2009

BEIJING, Nov 18 (Reuters) – President Barack Obama gave his sternest warning yet about the need to contain rising U.S. deficits, saying on Wednesday that if government debt were to pile up too much, it could lead to a double-dip recession. [Read more…]

Anita Dunn Blames Lee Atwater for Quoting Mao

NewsBusters | by P.J. Gladnick | Oct. 17, 2009

“Taken out of context!”
“You just didn’t understand the irony!”
“Just kidding!”

The incredibly lame excuses those on the left come up with to try to explain away statements they made that have come back to haunt them is growing more hilarious by the day.

Robert Reich clearly stated at a 2007 Berkeley lecture what an honest candidate for president who didn’t worry about getting elected would say to senior citizens who face costly treatment to keep them alive: “It’s too expensive…so we’re going to let you die.” [Read more…]

Flush with Self-Righteousness

American Thinker | by Rosslyn Smith | Oct. 5, 2009

Environmentalist dreams are starting to rub Americans raw. Greenpeace has turned its attention to an issue that invites both the reporter and readers to make them the butt of jokes, but which is no laughing matter in the end. They are dumping on the manufacture of plush toilet paper on the grounds that it helps destroy the environment. [Read more…]

Gore and Google: Pants on Fire

American Thinker | by Brian Sussman | Oct. 1, 2009

Earth’s self-anointed global warming czar, Al Gore, has teamed up with his business partners at Google (he’s an Advisory Board member) to make the latest pitch for a planet that is about to burst into a bag of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. Together they have created an internet video which heralds Google’s entrance into the world of climate forecasting. [Read more…]
