Blagovest Bells
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Christ in our midst! Since 1998, upon the blessing of Father Stephan Meholick, Rector of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in San Anselmo, California, I have tried to create an awareness of the once self-evident essential role of bell-ringing in Orthodox worship as prescribed by the Church’s typikon.
Consequently, I have facilitated the selection, purchase, importation, installation, and implementation of traditional Orthodox Church bells here in the U.S. and also in Canada. This work has been rendered as a project of Expanding Edge LLC, under the trade name of Blagovest Bells. Our Blagovest Bells are ringing now in more than 100 churches across North America.
As the result of the current US economy downturn, our churches are experiencing serious financial difficulties, which results in a decreasing number of bell orders. Because of that, Blagovest Bells (http://russianbells.com/) recently hasn’t been generating enough revenue to take care of my family, so I have to restructure my occupation. more »

Thy Nativity, O Christ our God,
Has shown to the world the light of wisdom.
For by it those who worshipped the stars,
Were taught by a star to adore Thee,
The Sun of Righteousness.
And to know Thee the Orient from on high,
O Lord, Glory to Thee!

Freedom is not free. Our liberty was paid for by the sacrifices of many brave souls. For all those who paid the ultimate sacrifice, we humbly thank you! Memory eternal!
“Memorial Day is an occasion of special importance to all Americans, because it is a day sacred to the memory of all those Americans who made the supreme sacrifice for the liberties we enjoy. We will never forget or fail to honor these heroes to whom we owe so much. We honor them best when we resolve to cherish and defend the liberties for which they gave their lives. Let us resolve to do all in our power to assure the survival and the success of liberty so that our children and their children for generations to come can live in an America in which freedom’s light continues to shine.” ~ Ronald Reagan more »

May God bless and protect all our Veterans.
Freedom is not free! It is due to the veterans’ sacrifices and constant vigilance that we still have all our freedoms and liberties.
To every man and woman who preserved my liberty this year, and for all of you who have ever proudly worn our Nation’s uniform, I say, “Thank you!”
You seek neither glory nor riches, nor even fame. You are our best, our brightest, our bravest. Please always know that even when we don’t show it, we love you. We appreciate you. We thank you. And we will never forget you or forsake you.
Fly your U.S. flag today and thank a veteran.

Dennis Prager Radio Show | Dennis Prager | Oct. 19, 2009
On Monday, October 19, 2009, during the second hour of his nationally syndicated radio show, noted conservative Dennis Prager, mentioned the OrthodoxNet Blog post on Anita Dunn’s praise of demonic communist dictator Mao Tse-Tung as one of her “favorite political philosophers.”

Mr. Prager (while mistakenly calling our site “orthodoxy.net”) quoted our description of the video clip that Glenn Beck showcased on FoxNews and read on the air the video caption comments:
Anita Dunn, the White House Communications Director, admitted that one of favorite political Philosophers, one that she “turns to the most”, is Mao Tse-Tung, the demonic communist dictator responsible for the starvation, torture, and murder of 70 million Chinese.
Here’s an excerpt of Dennis Prager’s comments and his reason for quoting the post from our site:
“… they [OrthodoxNet Blog] give views from an Orthodox perspective, obviously that is from Christian Orthodox, Eastern Orthodox, and Judeo/Christian perspective. And the only reason that I am noting this is because I want to read to you their description, as opposed to CNN’s description of Mao Tse-Tung. more »

The best way for me to remember 9/11 is to remind everyone of my friend FDNY Firefighter Tommy Gardner, lost in the South Tower on 9/11/01.
He and I were in first grade class together at PS 107 in 1968, in Flushing, Queens, NY. We were in every grade and school together until we graduated high school in 1980. He joined FDNY in 1982. He was in several FDNY units, the last being Hazmat 1. more »

American Thinker | June 21, 2009
Is the right responsible for inspiring murder, such as that of late-term abortionist George Tiller by Kansas native Scott Roeder? Some certainly seem to think so. For instance, the Friday before last Bill O’Reilly had as a guest on his show Joan Walsh, the editor of leftist news site Salon.com. She appeared because she had criticized O’Reilly for engaging in what she called a “jihad” against Tiller. Her thesis is that O’Reilly and, presumably, the rest of us who are passionately pro-life are culpable in Tiller’s death. more »

Christ is risen from the dead, Trampling
down death by death, And upon those in
the tombs bestowing life!
“Come, all you faithful, let us venerate the holy Resurrection of Christ. For behold, through the Cross joy has come to all the world. Ever praising the Lord, let us praise His Resurrection. For by enduring the Cross for us, He has destroyed death by death!” - Easter Sunday Resurrection Service

Christ is Born! Glorify Him!
Dearly Beloved in Christ,
Lo, the time of our salvation draweth nigh! Make ready, O Cave! The Virgin approacheth to give birth! O Bethlehem, land of Judah, Adorn thyself and rejoice, For from thee hath our Lord shone forth! Hearken, ye mountains and hills, And ye parts of Judea, which lie round about, For Christ cometh, That He might save man whom He created, In that He loveth mankind! more »

Orthodox Prayer Book | Chris Banescu | Nov. 4, 2008

Almighty God, the Father of mercies, Lord of all Creation, and Spring of all comfort, hear our prayers, come to our defense, and deliver us from the dangers and evil that besets us and threatens to enslave us and our children. Oh Master, Jesus Christ, we beseech You to save this land and have mercy on Your people, for the days are dark and our hearts are troubled.
We believe Lord, that all trials of life are under Your care and that all things work for the good of those who love You. Take away from us fear, anxiety, and distress. Help us to face and endure these difficult and dangerous times with faith, courage, and wisdom. Grant that these trials may bring us closer to You for You are our rock and refuge, our comfort and hope, our delight and joy. We trust in Your love and compassion. For unto Thee are due all glory, honor, and worship: to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen. more »
