Cell phone numbers go public

Got this in the mail yesterday. It’s true. You might want to put your name on the list to avoid junk calls.

REMINDER….all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing
companies tomorrow and you will start to receive sale calls.

To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone:

It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your
time. It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the
cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a
different phone number.

  1. This appears to be an urban legend — sort of. . . .

BUT — you can in fact add your cell phone number to the “do not call” registry. In my humble opinion that is a good thing to do. It only takes a minute and does not cost anything.

If you haven’t put your home phone on the No Call list, don’t walk, but run to your home phone and put that number on the list. Before we were on the No Call list, we got so many sales calls that I considered disconnecting the phone. After we were on the No Call list, sales calls dropped to maybe one every three months.

  2. Yeah, not true. Cell phone numbers are not being given over to telemarketers. A snopes.com or google search makes that pretty clear.
